Part of Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building

The Exploded View was developed by Biobased Creations in collaboration with our Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building. It is the result of intensive research and offers a fresh perspective on the question ‘which climate and people-friendly solutions can be found and realised for the enormous construction task facing the Netherlands?’

The answers have been transformed into stories representing the house of the future. With a model of a house and the blown-up blueprint The Exploded View shows what the designers and researchers have discovered, but also what still needs to be discovered. They discuss the qualities of biobased materials and circular methods and indicate where the growth opportunities are. Biobased Creations invite everyone to think and act with them. According to designer Pascal Leboucq, there is so much knowledge and there is no single or right method or solution for sustainable building and living.

Potential of rapidly renewable raw materials

The installation incorporates applications and materials of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. From products that already exist, but still have difficulty finding their way to the construction site to developments that still need serious support to develop and scale up. The Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building refers with The Exploded View to the endless, potential material flows that are in stock and are not or hardly used in the construction world. Leboucq shares that there are more and more building materials being made from food waste, textiles, sewage water, buildings or even our own living environment. He demonstrates their quest for materials that can keep the production circle as small and efficient as possible.
