Veló Monó Lena – Tactical Urbanism Project

Micromobility, and cycling in particular, is growing rapidly due to the pandemic, soaring fuel prices and the trend toward a healthier lifestyle. The development of urban bicycle infrastructure cannot keep pace with this growth, as it is challenging to establish cycling facilities at every busy location. This is especially true in cities where cycling as a daily mode of transportation has a less established tradition.

Veló Monó Lena – Tactical Urbanism Project

This project uses the flexible approach of ‘tactical urbanism’ to provide temporary solutions for the development of bicycle infrastructure. From the perspective of cyclists, two major issues emerge: storage and safety. These two factors can be addressed with flexible and temporary solutions specifically designed for this purpose: the mobile bike storage unit VELÓ, the mobile bike stand MONÓ, and the removable bike lane separator LENA. They have already been installed in temporary public spaces and pop-up events in Budapest. VELÓ can now also be tested by visitors at DDW.
