Third Office

What if instead of travelling to the office every day, you could opt for a place closer to home now and then? A professional setting, within cycling distance from home, with all the facilities you have at your office? Would this spark your interest?

Highways are designed to get people quickly from A to B; however, owing to a surplus of cars on the road, instead we face traffic jams daily. The default solution would be: build more roads. But what if we can prevent such numbers of cars from hitting the road on the same days?

In Embassy Lab ‘Third Office’ we explore the possibilities of this type of workplace. As an example: many people travel daily between Tilburg and Eindhoven, to work at the High Tech Campus. What if there was a place in Tilburg that you could cycle to one day a week? A workplace intended for employees of companies located on the High Tech Campus. Would you be open to this?

If we redistribute our workplaces and each leave the car at home 20 percent of the time, we would save hours spent in the car, as well as CO2 emissions, prevent more roads from being built, and create new social connections. This all contributes to an increase in happiness at work.
