The little room
Het Kamertje (The Little Room) is an interactive performance in the (semi-)public space that explores the power of the norm. The word ‘normal’ reveals something about power relations in our society.
Are we doing the right thing when we follow the (often unwritten) rules, or is that conformism? Do we dare to break rules, and if so, what reason do we have for doing so? Do we even have an idea of how things should be different? Het Kamertje plays with the making and breaking of rules as a way of shaping our coexistence.
You will find Het Kamertje in the MU container on the Ketelhuisplein. Around Het Kamertje, you are likely to encounter the enforcers of the post-new normal. Ask yourself: are you contributing to maintaining existing structures, or are you creating something new?
