The future of working together

The Board of Government Advisors makes eight recommendations for the way the national government will work (together) and manage its office portfolio in the future. During the pandemic, working from home seemed a temporary solution. Now, hybrid working appears to be here to stay, supported by digitisation and technology.

The future of working together

The Central Government Real Estate Agency manages nearly 12 million square metres of real estate spread throughout the Netherlands. Seventeen percent of that is office space. What impact does hybrid working have on the real estate portfolio of the State and other government agencies?

At the initiative of Chief Government Architect Francesco Veenstra, a group of experts, designers and civil servants explored the future of (collaborative) working for the central government. Three design firms, Komovo, Studio Lonk, Lilith Ronner Van Hooijdonk, Studio Anne Dessing and Dirk Vis, imagined that future in design research. These explorations form the basis of the advice.
