The combi journey planner
To make better use of space, combat pollution and keep the city accessible, several major cities are in the process of transforming mobility. By connecting public transport, shared transportation and private transport more effectively, people can be enticed to choose (a combination of) sustainable transportation options. The challenge lies in the fact that many people are accustomed to driving their cars to the city, and it’s difficult to find attractive alternatives.
In Nijmegen, the municipality and the RadboudUMC are working together – within the programme Duurzaam Bereikbaar Heijendaal – on a new initiative: Combi Journey Planner for Campus Heijendaal. The app helps visitors to Campus Heijendaal find an attractive route combining the use of their own car with the use of public transport and compare the actual travel time of different routes. The goal is to reduce the number of cars on campus, reducing traffic congestion and parking issues.
