Nature Building Kit

In recent years artists Pascal Leboucq and Lucas De Man have built up an enormous network of people, materials and knowledge with their installations The Growing Pavilion and The Exploded View. In order to spread the story about making the living environment more sustainable, the Nature Building Kit was developed in collaboration with NEMO Science Museum. The installation offers an interactive and experiential way to get people of all ages, backgrounds and different educational levels to think about building a greener world for everyone.

Travelling around

After the exhibition ‘What a building’ (2022) in NEMO, the kits went on a tour. Two kits went to NEMO Studio, where they are now part of ‘Project Tomorrow’. The Nature Building Kit was also on display during Dutch Design Week 2022, as part of the Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building. In addition, storytellers have already traveled with the installation to schools, cultural organizations, policy makers, farmers and construction professionals and will now share the story about biobased materials on the prestigious stage for design in Milan.

International ambitions

This is not the first international trip the Nature Building Kit will make. The makers previously brought a complete kit and an empty kit to Indonesia at the invitation of the Erasmushuis. There, the empty kit was filled in an open studio with local biobased materials, resulting in a beautiful exhibition of the two versions. The ambition is to take the Nature Building Kit to different countries in order to further expand knowledge and broaden the network.

Salone del Mobile

Salone del Mobile is an annual international design fair with presentations throughout Milan. Masterly, the Dutch design pavilion, is located in the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti. It is an initiative of Uniquole and is organized in close cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Rome, the Consulate General in Milan, local Italian partners and the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
