Possible Landscapes Sandy soils – Achterhoek

In the Achterhoek, different soil types come together on the high sandy soils. The area is a mix of stream valleys, young heathlands, ash (high-altitude fields) and planted drifting sands. Drought is a major problem in this region. In this program we investigate the possibilities for a sustainable design of the landscape with enough water and healthy farmer-to-builder chains.

Possible Landscapes Sandy soils – Achterhoek

At DDW23 we will show a 3D print of the area made by Omlab, which consists entirely of natural materials. The scenarios collected during the co-creation sessions serve as the basis for the second part of the installation. This is expected in early 2024 and from then on it can be used as a starting point to facilitate discussions about sustainable area development.
