Omlab in collaboration with Lilian van Daal | Stroncq

In the search for circular applications for construction, soil and biodiversity, Omlab developed an ecological material with the strength of gypsum concrete, consisting of 98% residual flows from sewage and drinking water treatment. The Stroncq seating object – which can also be used as a slope tile – was created in collaboration with Lilian van Daal. As a designer she specializes in biomimicry, in which nature serves as inspiration. Van Daal took the root network of plants as an example for a very efficient form of slope reinforcement. Seeds and minerals, specific to a certain terrain, can be included in the 3D print. The tiles are completely biodegradable and will eventually be taken over by the root network of the plants.
