Workshop Virtual reality to prevent knife violence
Amsterdam has a major weapon problem. The municipality, the Public Prosecution Service, the police and schools are already doing a lot to address this problem, such as detection gates in schools, knife amnesties and the engagement of experts. We are proud to share that soon we will add a VR game and the lesson programme Mes Less (Knife-Less) to this. Mes Less has been developed for and with teenagers (10-14 years) to prevent and reduce the carrying of knives and stabbing incidents. During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience the VR game yourself. You will learn about the consequences of your choices and witness their impacts as the story unfolds. Will you grab the knife? Or leave it and accept the consequences? Afterwards, we will discuss your experience together. Here are some of the reactions of teenagers who have tested the VR game:
“It’s like I’m still in the movie.”
“Will this be every Tuesday? In that case I know I won’t need to call in sick!”
“Makes you think! Super exciting! Cool!”
“Where can I buy this?”
