Blue Economy Night 2021 – The Quarantine Edition

If there’s any time to make a radical shift towards a new economy, it’s now. With the pandemic, ecological and social crises, we see that the way in which we have organized our economic system no longer works. They’re all intertwined and are forcing humanity worldwide to rethink the foundations of our economy. How do we arrive at an economy in which exponential and extractive growth is no longer central, but the boundaries of people and the planet are respected?

We at BlueCity believe we do this not only by thinking, but above all by doing. So that we can show the world how things can be done differently. In this special quarantine edition of the annual Blue Economy Night, we look back on five years BlueCity and forward at what a new economy should look like. One in which entrepreneurship and gut feeling are working together on the new economy. And in which we look at a resilient, healthy local economy that is good for everyone. What have we learned? What has the crisis meant and how do we see the future? During the Dutch Week of the Circular Economy, we stream a 90 minute radio show, live from the empty swimming pool in the heart of BlueCity, to talk and discuss five years of doing. What are the biggest lessons? It’s time for action. So let’s begin.
