Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building at DDW
The Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building organizes several exhibitions during Dutch Design Week. The main project, The Exploded View – Beyond Building, can be admired at the Ketelhuisplein at Strijp-S. This life-size biobased house will stimulate all your senses and show you the circular future.
“You walk through the house and can see, feel and smell all the materials,” says Lucas De Man of Biobased Creations, curator of the Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building. “Every room has its own story.” Are you interested in the specific stories behind the themes and materials found in the house? During DDW, storytellers will be present to take you into the new world of circular building and answer all your questions.
Do you prefer to wander through the house yourself? That’s no problem either! All rooms and materials have a QR code. Just scan it and you have all the background information in hand. In this way, you can view everything at your leisure and even look it up at home if you wish. The biobased house can also be visited digitally. You can follow a complete tour through the house online. “This way, our biobased house is accessible to everyone”, says De Man.
The Exploded View – Beyond Building is not the first circular and biobased house these designers have created. Last year, they worked on The Exploded View – Materials and Methods, a scale model of the circular house. This model can also be seen at DDW this year, in The New Block at Strijp-S.
Source of inspiration
The aim of the exhibition is to make you think about the future. What will your house look like in the future? And what do you think is really important when it comes to living? De Man: “The house is cool to see. It gives hope, energy and inspiration for the future. We show that we can build circular and bio-based on a large scale.”
Do you want to go even deeper into circular and biobased building? Besides the exhibitions, other events such as talks and lectures are organised during DDW. For an overview of the programme, see the Embassy of Circular & Biobased Building webpage.
